Martha Salmon (New York University)

Martha Salmon is a retired Connecticut teacher with over thirty years of academic experience in elementary, middle, high school, and adult education settings. She understands the needs of students of various age ranges and ability levels. For the past ten years, she has been tutoring students of all ages and grade levels, from pre-K to post graduate, in numerous public school and private venues. In addition to working with youngsters, Martha tutors adults who need to improve their literacy skills in order to advance professionally in a variety of vocational settings. She is a dedicated, enthusiastic, and patient education professional whose mission is to optimize student learning potential and performance by accommodating her teaching styles, practices, and materials to the individual learning style and pace of each of her students. She has outstanding interpersonal communication skills with the ability to easily establish rapport and build confidence. She is well-organized, dynamic, and skilled at creating and fostering hands-on, student-centered learning environments.

Her specialty tutoring areas are test prep (CMT, GED, PSAT, SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, PRAXIS), remedial reading, writing, study skills, homework support, elementary math, Spanish, French, English as a Second Language, and learning disability support. She currently teaches SAT prep and writing in local Connecticut community continuing education programs and private schools. She has developed her own unique streamlined SAT verbal prep curriculum, which emphasizes strategies and shortcuts for each section of the exam, including easy grammar mastery exercises, vocab practice materials, and essay writing essentials. This year she is self-publishing two books, a children’s book entitled My Cat, Merigold, and a wellness book, I Can’t Get Sick!

Martha received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Case Western Reserve University, with a major in French and a minor in Spanish. She received a Master of Arts Degree in French Literature from New York University and completed summer programs at Laval University in Quebec and the Sorbonne in Paris. She also has a Sixth Year Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She is certified in Connecticut to teach Elementary Education K-6, Bilingual Education K-12, ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) K-12, French 7-12, and Spanish 7-12. She is fluent in French and Spanish.

Laura Dupcak (Manhattan College)

Graduated from Manhattan College with an MS in Chemical Engineering.  Also received her BS from Manhattan College while attaining a 3.96 GPA. Attended high school in NY and graduated 1st in her class.  Laura is currently tutoring all levels of Math and Science at The Strike Zone.
Jon Floman (S.C.S.U.)

Jon Floman is a fulltime teacher in Connecticut and has been described by parents and colleagues as a miracle worker in math. He has the ability to simplify and break down math problems onto a level that math students can understand and apply. He has helped countless students improve their grades, confidence, and SAT scores. Jon has been teaching at the high school level and tutoring over twelve years, and has tutored both privately and for Stanley Kaplan and other SAT preparation programs. He is certified in multiple subject areas, including comprehensive special education (K-12), world languages, and history, as well. Jon attained his certification at the Yale Teacher Prep Program, and has a masters in special education from S.C.S.U.   Jon’s specialty tutoring areas are math through pre-calculus, SAT math and Verbal, foreign languages, writing skills and eloquence across the disciplines, and study skills across the disciplines.  Prior to teaching, Jon was a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa. He speaks several African dialects, as well as French and Spanish.  On a side note, Jon is a lifelong Red Sox fan, but has a proven track record of excellent math instruction to both Yankees and Mets fans.
